Greetings, Romulo here! 👋

Welcome to the second post of my Year of Books 2021 series 📚. Find here my first post with the introduction to the project and key takeaways from the book High Output Management by Andrew Grove.

As I mentioned there:

This year, I’m trying something new and bringing you value along the way. For each book I read (excludes fiction), I’ll publish a Medium post with my takeaways. While I hope this will spark your interest and help you succeed, this will also help me, since IMO there’s…

Greetings!

In 2015, Mark Zuckerberg shared on Facebook one of his New Year’s resolutions, A Year of Books, and of course, created a Facebook page dedicated to the project. Here’s what the first post says:

We will read a new book every two weeks and discuss it here. Our books will emphasize learning about new cultures, beliefs, histories and technologies. Suggestions for new books to read are always welcome. We ask that everyone who participates read the books and we will moderate the discussions and group membership to keep us on topic.

The year of 2020 will never be forgotten.

You and I are part of the history books and we’re yet to see how these chapters end. One thing we know is that regardless of race, gender, nationality, and social status, billions of people are impacted in similar ways: remembering how the world was before COVID-19, acknowledging how hard it is to adjust to the “new normal,” and living in the middle of a lot of uncertainty about the future.

Dealing with that rollercoaster is something that we’re all learning “on the job,”…

Greetings!

Before we start, here are words wisdom that are more critical than ever. If you lead people as part of your work or have a high degree of influence even an individual contributor, what you do is as important or even more important than what you say.

If you incentivize people to build their own schedule around WFH duties and constraints, take time off, and invest in theirselves, you should do the same and set the tone, so here I am on a Friday morning, not night or weekend, investing time…

I just finished the The Fearless Organization book and timing couldn’t be more appropriate with everything happening around the world.

I was fortunate enough to (coincidently) start reading the book before the events that escalated last weekend (5/30/20) and each page has accompanied me along this mentally excruciating series of events. I’m sickened by the events and how poorly handled the situation has been, but I’ll try to use this post as an instrument of change and share what I learned with you.

The book is centered on creating phycological safety in…

Product Rumble: Part II (Ninja Moves)

All views, opinions and statements are my own. Please consider reviewing the first part of this two-post series before continuing reading here.

On Product Rumble: Part I (Context & Predictions), I shared five predictions based on my experience as a Product Manager — maybe you’ve been through some of those already or you will experience them in the future. TL;DR there is no silver bullet to truly avoid those predictions.

On the bright side, throughout my career, I’ve learned a few things that can be offered as suggestions to avoid or more quickly spot the five predictions. …

On 9/18/2019, I was invited to share my experience in Product Management with Georgetown MBA students in Washington, DC. Inspired by the phenomenal Brené Brown, I named my presentation Product Rumble.

Don’t know who Brené Brown is? Brené is a worldwide reference in Leadership. Her talk on “The power of vulnerability” has approximately 44 million views. Please do yourself a favor and google some of her background, trajectory, and work.

So what’s a Product Rumble? Here’s my own definition, adapted from Brené’s work: a Product Rumble is a real, honest, and one…
